Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your daughter. We’re honoured you’re considering Tangara School for Girls. Whether you’re just exploring or ready to take the next step, we’re here to support and guide you through the process.
Tangara is a community that partners with parents to raise young women of character, faith, and purpose. We’re proud to see growing interest in what we offer. We do our best to welcome every family who aligns with our mission.
Please kindly note:
While we’re grateful for every enquiry, we cannot guarantee a place at any stage of the enrolment process. Enrolment offers are made based on availability, discretion of our school Executive, and the following priority criteria:
- Siblings of current Tangara and Redfield families
- Daughters/Sons (for infants) of Alumni of the Pared Schools
- Families actively practising the Catholic faith
- Families who uphold and support the values of our school
We encourage all prospective families to read our Enrolment Policy and Parent Code of Conduct for more detailed information.

FAQs
In Kindergarten and Year 1, there are four streams in total, as these early years are co-educational. Two streams of girls will remain at Tangara, and two streams of boys will progress to Redfield in the primary years from Year 2 onwards.
Our cohort sizes are intentionally limited to two streams to preserve the quality and depth of our one-on-one Mentoring System. Every student is paired with a dedicated mentor; a member of staff who meets with the student fortnightly and with their parents each term. This structure allows us to provide truly personalised support, both academically and in character formation.
We offer two Prep programs to suit different family needs:
- 3-day program: Runs Monday to Wednesday, 8:30am – 2:50pm
- 2-day program: Runs Thursday and Friday, 8:30am – 2:50pm
Each class is capped at 25 students, with one class for each program: Prep 2 (2-day) and Prep 3 (3-day). Every Prep class is supported by both a dedicated teacher and a teacher’s aide, ensuring a warm, well-supervised environment where every child receives personal attention and care.
- Prep – Turning 4 years old before 31 March
- Kindergarten – Turning 5 years old before 31 March
- Year 1 – Turning 6 years old before 31 March
- Year 2 – Turning 7 years old before 31 March
Students transferring from other schools at any year level, with cut-off dates later than 31 March, may be required to repeat a grade.
You’re welcome to submit an expression of interest at any time. It’s the first step in discovering whether Tangara is the right school for your family. If no dates are currently available to book, you’ll be on our list to be notified when the next Open Day opens for registration.
Application forms are made available to families who attend an Open Day and are sent via email on the same day. Each round of application review and interviews is linked to a two-week submission window following the Open Day, so it’s important to complete and return your form within that timeframe.
Year 7 is our most competitive intake year, and places are limited. With only two classes per cohort, we do not add additional streams in High School. Once a year group is full in Primary, further applications are placed on a waitlist.
To give your daughter the best opportunity to secure a place, we strongly encourage families to consider enrolling from Prep, Kindergarten or early Primary. Early enrolment not only increases your chances of a confirmed place for High School but also allows your daughter to benefit from Tangara’s formative character education from the beginning of her school journey.
As part of the enrolment process, prospective students complete a Learner Profile Assessment. This allows our teaching staff to better understand each child’s learning style, strengths, and any areas where support may be needed. While the results do not solely determine enrolment, they help ensure that each student can thrive within our learning environment and benefit from the educational approach we offer.
Yes, Tangara warmly welcomes families of all faith backgrounds, provided there is a shared alignment with our core values and approach to education. While we are an Independent Catholic school, we do not require students to be Catholic to enrol.
That said, Religious Education is a compulsory part of our curriculum for all students. Faith-based activities such as classroom instruction, school prayer, and weekly or daily Mass are integrated into school life and form an essential part of our identity and mission. Primary students attend Mass weekly, while Secondary students have the option to attend daily Mass or participate in silent reading.
While we welcome students of all faiths, it’s important that you, as parents, are comfortable with your child participating in these aspects of school life, as they are central to the formation and community experience we offer.
At Tangara, we believe every student deserves to be known, challenged, and supported. Our Diverse Learning team works closely with teachers and mentors to support students across the board: from those who need additional help in certain areas, to those who are academically gifted and ready for extension.
Support strategies may include Individual Education Plans, tailored classroom approaches, or accelerated learning pathways. Through regular assessments, teacher observations, and ongoing one-on-one mentoring, we’re able to identify each student’s unique needs and strengths (academic or otherwise) and help them grow with purpose and confidence.
Boys attending our Infants School automatically transition to Redfield College in Year 2 and won’t be required to submit a separate application with Redfield College. It will be considered a continued enrolment supported by an orientation and transition program for both students and parents in Term 4.
At Tangara, we want students to be fully present: in their learning, their friendships, and the wider life of the school. To support this, all mobile phones and digital devices (including smartwatches and music players) are handed in at the start of each day and stored securely until home time. This policy applies across all school settings, including excursions, camps, and sports days.
Our approach encourages students to build real connections and develop focus without the constant pull of digital distractions. We also work in partnership with parents and mentors to guide students in the safe and responsible use of technology (both at school and at home) including conversations about social media, screen time, and digital habits.
