Year Four were thoroughly immersed into life in the early colony of New South Wales on Monday when we attended our History excursion to Parramatta. Our first stop was Experiment Farm where we learnt about the James Ruse, a poor farmer, and John Harris, a military surgeon. We then traveled to Old Government House and joined Mrs Johnson in her classroom, the year was 1815 and we learnt school rules and all about etiquette of the day. She was very strict! Finally, we toured the house which was built by convicts and is the oldest surviving public building in Australia. While we had a fun day going back in time, we were very happy to return to our present day classroom!
