As part of their study on Radioactivity, Year 10 visited the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) at Lucas Heights. ANSTO is a leader in chemical, materials and environmental research, which produces many of Australia’s medical radiopharmaceuticals.

During the excursion students took part in several hands-on activities in the Discovery Centre theatrette. There was also a tour of ANSTO’s research facilities, including the OPAL research reactor, the Neutron Guide Hall, and the ANTARES and STAR linear particle accelerators.
