Earlier this month, our Year 10 Students attended Amazon Web Services (AWS) Innovation Summit. The girls participated in a round of workshops and panel discussions with industry leaders which aimed to educate and inspire students about the worlds of tech and coding. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the excursion, and even won first place in the engineering activity, coding the Sphero robotic ball to make its way through a maze. Well done!

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries and schools all around Australia. Now in its 19th year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy. Tangara was involved in this event on Wednesday, 22 May at 11am.

This year's book was "Alpacas with Maracas" written by Matt Cosgrove. Mrs Ellis read to Reception Rust, while Mrs Chigwidden read to Year 1 and simultaneously, Dr George read to Year 1 and Year 2!

Our Trivia Night Fundraiser was a great success last Saturday evening as Tangara parents, staff and friends got together to raise funds for the completion of Yarra Hall.

Attendees were grilled on topics from pop music to chemistry, geography to sport, not to mention, observation and listening skills! It certainly wasn’t a battle for the faint hearted!

Inspired by the fact that our hall will host Tangara’s future productions and with prizes up for grabs, our more enthusiastic participants came dressed as various famous, fictional characters. Highlights included the very fitting Star Wars themed table, with Princess Leia, Chewbacca and friends for May the 4th, Dorothy and the Lion, the Little Mermaid and the Men in Black crowd.

After 4 rounds of questions and brains on overdrive, the Kindergarten parent’s table managed to take the lead by only a few points and were awarded first place while Wilma and Fred Flintstone aka Tamarra and Rick Alloggia were deemed best-dressed!

Thank you to everyone who attended and took part in the auction; to our wonderful MCs, Damian Sarks and John Limbers, to the Tangara Development Committee for organising the event, especially Aileen Bernado, Louise Limbers and Tamarra Alloggia for overseeing the preparations leading up to the evening and all of our sponsors. Over $17,000 was raised in total and an excellent evening was had by all!
